Penzance

Penzance sits on Mounts bay overlooking its sweeping 4 miles of beach, while out to sea St Michaels mount can be seen in the distance; the old harbour has a genuine nautical feel to it unlike some of the other towns.

Penzance has some fine gardens courtesy of the mild climate, The National trust Trengwainton has many plants that will not grow further north. The town is pleasant to stroll through and admire some fine Georgian houses intermingled with the quaint fisherman’s cottages.

Place to visit include the outstanding Penlee gallery and museum this historic Gallery displays paintings by the Newlyn School and has regular exhibitions entry is free.

St Michaels Mount sitting in the bay with its 12th Abbey sitting atop the mount is instantly recognisable as one of Cornwall’s most iconic sights. The rococo drawing room, armoury the priory church and the subtropical cliff gardens are all worth seeing. St Michaels is connected to the mainland by a causeway from nearby Marazzion.
