Ramsgate

The lovely old town of Ramsgate is a lively little place compared to some of its neighbours, the town has Britain’s only royal harbour which in the summer is packed with leisure boats and yachts.

The town can trace its roots back to roman times, later in 449 AD the Jutish leaders Hengist and Horsa landed here. St Augustine also landed here a Celtic cross marks the spot, he was the first Christian missionary sent from Rome to convert the Saxons.

The town’s lovely harbour is lined with bars, cafes, and restaurants and with some fine blue flag beaches it is very popular in the summer. Strolling around the town there is some amazing architecture to be seen, this along with its quiet charm makes it great place for days out or weekend stay.
