Weymouth faces out into Portland Bay and is an ancient port dating from mediaeval times Weymouth became one of the first tourist destinations in England and it was made fashionable once George III started staying there.

The seafront has an attractive esplanade comprising of terraces from the Georgian and Regency periods.
