The market town of Skipton sits at the southern edge of the dales and has been attributed as having one of the most attractive shopping streets in Yorkshire.
It holds the regular North dales farmers market on the first Sunday of the month this attracts many visitors.
This fine town has an exceptionally well-preserved castle the story of its siege makes interesting reading the castle was able to resist due to the exceptionally thick walls.
The Leeds and Liverpool canal passes through the town and visitors can take a cruise along it to the castle and back.
There is a good mix of independent shops with canal side pubs and restaurants and an indoor arcade.
