Westmill

This quiet, well ordered village has a button snap cottage that belonged to the essayists Charles Lamb.

Although he never lived in it, he owned it for three years.

The cottage was bought by the Charles Lamb society in in 1949 and a plaque is dedicated to the memory of Elia, which was Lamb’s pen-name.
