Is the capital of the highlands and one of the fastest growing towns in Scotland it is ideally placed for visiting the highlands the Moray Firth as well as the great glen.

Inverness sits at the head of the great glen its history and its great location alongside Loch Ness make it a popular destination for visitors.The great glen is sixty miles long from Fort William to Inverness the lochs where connected by the calendonian canal which was constructed by Thomas Telford.

In the summer the monster hunters descend on the place all hoping for a sight of the elusive beast, The Ness river has many fine walks and is a picturesque location for a pleasant stroll.

The Ness island’s are a a popular attraction they are planted with mature Scots pine and sycamore and beech the islands are linked to the banks either side by elegant Victorian footbridges exploring the whole area is a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

A walk up one side and coming back on the opposite bank will enable you to pass the red sandstone St Andrews Cathedral which was built in 1868. The nearby loch itself can be explored by taking a cruise. Further afield is urquart castle and of course the highlands themselves.
