Margate

For over two hundred years, the resort of Margate has been a popular destination for holidaymakers. The fine long sandy breach nearly nine miles in length attracted day-trippers in droves, for a traditional seaside holiday.

The town has some fine Victorian and regency architecture leftovers from its heydays; however like other seaside resorts it declined with the popularity of the package holiday to the sun drenched shores of the Mediterranean.

More recently however, the town has undergone a face lift and its fortunes are slowly being reversed with the opening of new attractions like the magnificent new Turner Contemporary art gallery the visitors are returning.

This new gallery quickly has become one of Kent’s most popular attractions with its huge windows and fine displays, famous artists regularly hold exhibitions here.
