Criccieth

This quaint seaside town lies west of Porthmadog above a sand and stone beach, the town is known mainly for its castle built by the welsh prince Llywelyn the great in 1239. Edwards’s forces captured it in 1283; Owain Glyndwr eventually burnt it in 1404.

The castle sits atop the cliffs giving great views of Tremadoq bay and the surrounding countryside; there is a small exhibition centre which tells all about the castles history.
