The pleasing town of Dornoch lies on the Dornoch firth it is a nice market town, which is famous for its championship golf course.

Dornoch cathedral is a 13th century building in the Gothic style with modern glass windows, the sarcophagus of Richard de Moravia is near the west door he famously fought the Danes at the battle of Embo in 1260.

Nearby is the famous Skibo castle and golf course, the place was the summer retreat of the scots born American industrialists Andrew Carnegie who made his fortune in the American steel industry.

Carnegie was born in Dunfermline his family moved to America when he was thirteen where he became the richest man in the world and also the most charitable, he gave his fortune away to help people aspire to a better life founding libraries all over the world.

The castle is a favourite of the famous and wealthy, Madonna was married here to Guy Ritchie.
The sandy golden beach at Dornoch stretches for miles and is a pleasant walk in good weather.
