Petrol head or lover of the Arts the county of Bedfordshire has lots to offer visitors, Bedford the county town is ideally situated with popular tourist destinations on each side like Cambridge and Oxford and London itself only 35 mins away by train.

In the past the wooded valleys and hills of this county attracted the wealthy, choosing it as the setting for grand mansions and stately homes some of these places can still be visited today.

Although Bedford is in one of the smallest counties of England, there is still plenty to see and do. Woburn Abbey a magnificent stately home with a treasure trove of beautiful objects and paintings is a great day out.

In Bedford itself, castle mound has good views of the River Ouse; the castle was destroyed in a siege of 1224. Finally, if its excitement you are after Silverstone racetrack is nearby.
