Cleobury Mortimer
Cleobury Mortimer
Sited on the banks of the river Rea the town is the second smallest in Shropshire and is a great example of English rural life. Situated close to the Clee hills which although not especially high they were rated enough to be included in Herefords Mappa Mundi a 13th century map of the world.
The Clee hills had many quarries that were important in Victorian England; the Poet Sir John Betjeman described the high street as a long airy curving street. The church has a twisted steeple and along with the air of quiet antiquity, makes the town a nice place to visit.
