Fotheringhay
Village and Castle
Fotheringhay castle has a long and interesting history. In the wars of the roses it was a Yorkist stronghold and eventually the last resting place of some senior figures of the dynasty. It is however the connection to the tudors that it is more well known.
Fotheringhay castle was where Elizabeth I imprisoned Mary Queen of Scots and also where she was executed.
