Grange Over Sands
Grange Over Sands
Grange over sands grew in the Victorian era largely due to its climate this previous fishing village transformed into a holiday resort complete with a sweeping mile long promenade fringed by ornamental gardens.
The towns situation on the coast backed by woodlands and benefiting from the effect of the Gulf Stream means the climate is unusually mild for this northern resort. Because of this climate some plants grow here that would not usually survive this far north. It also explains why the town is a popular retirement choice especially for those with green fingers.
The Lakeland rose Show is held annually nearby in Cartmel , Cartmel priory which is also nearby is worth a visit the Priory founded in 1188 manged to escape the ravages of HENRY VIII dissolution.
