Westbury in Wiltshire is probably best known for its white Horse this chalk figure on Bratton Down is Wiltshire’s best-known White horse. Legend says that the horse was cut into the hillside to mark the victory by King Alfred the Great against the Danes at the battle of Ethandun in 878.

Westbury however was once a prosperous weaving and cloth making centre and also famous for producing fine gloves. The town’s market place is lined with beautiful Georgian houses a testimony to its former prosperity.
