Dunster


Situated on the eastern edge of Exmoor and below a scarlet walled castle, Dunster is one of the most picturesque villages in Somerset, as well as one of the oldest.

This captivating mix of cobbled streets, cottages, packhorse bridges and crystal stream is stunning, it is one of the loveliest medieval villages in England and a tourist hotspot.

The Norman castle now in the care of the national trust totally dominates the place although it has been substantially changed over the centuries its core still retains its medieval character.

The main street which nestles below wooded hills and the castle has an assortment of nice little tea rooms and quaint shops.

The 15th century St George’s church which has a wonderful fan vaulted decorated rood screen.
The 18th century watermill, which is still working complete with the original wheels and cogs there is also a tearoom inside.
