Oliver Cromwells birthplace


The town of Huntingdon now in Cambridgeshire was once in Huntingdonshire it is a small town with a big history, being the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell 1599. The Cromwell museum is his former school and recounts his life from farmer to Lord Protector of England.

The Cromwell family have other associations with the town Hinchingbroke house was owned by Sir Richard Cromwell. Huntingdon is joined to Godmanchester by a beautiful 14th century bridge across the river Great Ouse, Godmanchester was the site of a roman settlement Durovigitum.
