Perrygrove

Treehouses Trains and Treasure

Treehouses, Trains & Treasure - whatever the weather.

Perrygrove is in the heart of the Forest of Dean; a stunning area just 30 minutes from Gloucester, Bristol and Cardiff. It’s the perfect place to visit with children.

Treehouses

wibbly-wobbly-bridge Set high up in the natural tree tops, our tree house cluster are a huge attraction. They’re home to a slide, swing bridge, ladders and miniature houses. It’s also a great place to wave at the train as it passes underneath you!

Trains

Our trains wind their way along a ¾ mile track through farmland and woods. A trip takes just over 20 minutes but most passengers get off to go to the play area at Foxy Hollow – or to go treasure hunting – and return by a later train. There is no charge for extra rides – your ticket lasts all day and you can ride the steam train as many times as you like! There are four stations on our railway, each with paths leading to lovely walks through beautiful woodland. We have both steam engines and diesels which feature in our timetable throughout the year.

Treasure

You can purchase our treasure hunt on arrival and it’s well worth doing. You can go into the woods to hunt for your clues, or stay on the train and find them at the stations. When you think you have all the right answers, come back to the indoor village at Perrygrove station to unlock your box of treasure!

Our indoor village has five houses connected by secret passages – they’re the perfect place for a game of hide and seek and provides hours of fun in all weather! It is also home to our treasure hunt boxes where you will discover your hidden treasure – but only if you have guessed all of the clues correctly!

You will find paths to our ancient woodland at all the stations. It is a lovely walk through the woods but they are as natural as possible – some of the paths are uneven and steep. Sensible shoes and clothes are recommended in the wood.

We recommend you allow a minimum of 2 hours for your visit. Most stay longer than this and take advantage of our cafe, or bring a picnic to enjoy. You will find plenty of picnic tables at Foxy Hollow play area, all we ask is that you take your rubbish home.

Perrygrove is open every weekend throughout the year and daily in local school holidays, (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day). In November, January, February and March we run our resident diesel train, Jubilee. Children even get to wave the green flag!
