Islay
Islay
Islay pronounced eye-lah is known for its distinctive aromatic Whiskies the flavours being very peaty, the island has a number of working distilleries, a trip around these is a must for the connoisseur, Ardbeg, and Laphroaig are two of the well-known brands.
The island although lacking in grand mountain scenery is home to much wildlife especially birds and seals. This along with it slow pace of life, the crystal clear waters and fine beaches more than compensates.
Port Ellen which is the main port although tiny is picturesque and the coastline here is very pretty.
