This area in the northwest that also includes the coast has two large cities both have fantastic shopping outlets for the shopaholic.
In Manchester apart from the high street there is the Trafford centre and in Liverpool there is the new Liverpool one complex both offer top brand shopping along with other stores.
For more genteel shopping there is the Victorian, resort of Southport with its veranda lined shopping boulevard where you can shop whatever the weather.
On the coast,there are plenty of family activities from the beach,dunes and woods at Formby to the fairground at Southport.
Liverpool and Manchester both have some fine museums that are well worth a visit and will keep the children amused on a rainy day.
