Timber framed buildings can been seen in all directions the town was a rotten borough sending two members to parliament.

The village is famous for Benjamin Tomkins the man responsible for developing the famed red and white beef cattle known the world over as the Herefordshire.

The town appears in the doomsday book as Wibba’s Ley in the local church is a statue to Col John Birch.

Birch was an officer in Cromwell’s army who reputedly quarrelled with Cromwell repeatedly and was imprisoned several times for this.
