Stoke Bruerne
Stoke Bruerne
The tiny village of Stoke Bruerne in Northamptonshire sits on the Grand Union Canal, which was one of Britain’s main canal arteries of the network. Today you can relive the life of the canal age and see brightly painted barges plying the waterways, during the summer month’s cruises and charters are also available to visitors.
Stoke Bruerne also houses the National Waterways Museum located in a lovely old stone warehouse on the towpath, this interesting museum vividly brings to life and details the rich history of 200 years of canals, describing the network and the people who made it possible.
There are great exhibits of the iconic canal enamelware that was so popular with the boat people
