This old time seaside resort on the end of Swansea bay has been a holiday destination since 1807 this was when the Oystermouth railway once used for transporting coal began running later they realised the transporting people was profitable too. The railway long since gone was the first passenger railway service in the world.

The town has become very fashionable and is full of chic restaurants and cafes this popularity being boosted by such famous names as the local welsh born Hollywood actress Catherine Zeta Jones buying a house here as well as the singer Bonnie Tyler.

A pleasant stroll down the promenade past painted colorful houses brings you to the sandy beach and Victorian pier complete with amusements and all the traditional seaside trappings there is a large café with grand chandeliers.

The name Mumbles is believed to have originated form French seaman who used the word Les mamelles to describe the twin-rounded rocks at the tip of the peninsular.

Oystermouth castle was once home to the Norman lords of Gower today it host open air performances of Shakespeare the view from the battlement over the bay are stunning.
