Portree

Portree is the biggest and busiest of its towns named after a visit in 1540 by James V, Port righ which means kings harbour.

The small formal town square is most attractive; the houses in the small appealing harbour like other in this area are painted in lovely bright colours.

The town is a good base for exploring the island and has many B&B to choose from.
