The twa bridges cross the river Ayr which cuts through the town, one of the bridges the 13th century Auld Brig was immortalised by the poet in his poem the Brigs of Ayr.
The town hold a burns festival in late May called, Burns an a That: this has all sorts of attractions from wine to horse racing.
