The tiny attractive village of Port Charlotte lies on the edge of Loch Indaal more or less opposite Bowmore on the other side.
Backing onto the Rhinns of Islay this lovely place has a general store and an interesting museum the Museum of Islay Life.
Port Charlotte has its own distillery the Bruichladdich distillery which produces a peaty Islay whisky all using restored Victorian equipment tours can be arranged by calling in advance.
